DataGrid with Frozen Columns Issue

Hi Jason,

We are encountering a strange rendering issue with datagrids that use frozen columns in our application. Here are the steps to reproduce using Frozen Columns demo example in the samples explorer:

1. Modify the xaml for FrozenDataGridColumnsDemo.xaml so that the width of all columns except the first two (FirstName, Surname) are "400" and the last column 'FavoriteColor' is "Auto"
2. Open up the samples explorer - do not maximize; samples explorer should open in default size window.
3. Go to DataGrid -> Frozen columns and scroll the datagrid all the way to the last column (FavoriteColor)
4. Maximize the window and you will notice an additional column gets added
5. Drag the FavoriteColor column header slightly to the right. The width of this column then becomes really small and it becomes really difficult to resize this column unless you click the header and drag to the right (dragging to the left results in the adjacent column getting smaller). This would probably be very frustrating for the user and for us to explain the potential workaround.

Ideally the extra column should not appear when resizing the window. Please note this is a high priority item for us for our upcoming release.

Hello Kamal, thanks for the repro description.

Could you please send me an image of what you see after you maximize the window, and also another image showing what it looks like after you slightly resize the FavoriteColor column to the right. - So that I can make sure we are seeing the same thing.

Note that there isn't actually an extra column. This is just visual filler to take up the remaining space if the columns don't fill up the whole width of the DataGrid. The only way to avoid seeing the filler is to set at least one of the column widths to *. The shrinking column sounds like a bug though, I'll be able to look into that once I see the images.

I've tracked down this issue and it's all working fine in our Sample Explorer now. This fix will be available in the next nightly build.

Hi Jason, Most of the problem is fixed. There is tiny problem as in the screenshot.

It will leave a empty "column" at the right most column when maximize the window (before doing that, scroll the horizontal bar to the right most, then maximize the window). If you click on the column, it disappeared.

I was using Jan 10's nightly build on Version 6.0
