I have installed the mindscape evaluation version and seem to be unable to drag SharePoint lists onto the model workspace either by dragging using selecting add to workspace option. Any help would be appreciated!!!! |

Hi Michael, Is this the case for every list as this will help trace this down to a translation issue with the list in question or if it is something more general such as a connection failure. Is there any output in the Output Window (we publish any errors there)?

Many thanks for your reply hope have made clear enough!!

Hi Michael, If you are seeing an error (as per #1) then this is what is being returned from SharePoint so that list wont be able to be mapped. In terms of dealing with the error in this case it would appear the list if leveraging some feature which is not installed, unfortunately its not particularly descriptive about what that might be :) Otherwise it does sound like the calls to SharePoint are taking a very long time and we will timeout after 1 minute which sounds like this is what is occurring.

Hi Jeremy,

Hi Michael, Check under the properties for your Sharepoint connection in the server explorer - you should have a ConnectionTimeout property which will allow you to adjust this.

Thanks Jeremy, I had a try at this however was unable to find the connection timeout property and also the properties which were presented to me where read-only. I have attached a screen shot which hopefully will assist your diagnosis ...etc. Regards Michael |

Right, looks like you are using a different provider than the one we install to connect, looks like its a Microsoft SharePoint Tools connection. You can try adjusting the timeout values for this using the registry values described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/vstudio/ee471440(v=vs.100).aspx - specifically I would look at trying ChannelOperationTimeout and HostProcessStartupTimeout It would seem to be sensible to first enable the EnableDiagnostics flag to see that you are getting some feedback from the tooling. You will want to modify the values under this node in the registry: HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\SharePointTools Let us know how you get on adjusting this.

Hi Michael, Sorry for the delay in replying. Unfortunately we dont have a mechanism for extending a trial so you would need to install it on another computer or VM to set up a new trial. In terms of the connection try creating a new Data Connection under the Server Explorer. To do this right-click the Data Connections node in Server Explorer, choose SharePoint as the database type, and enter the site URL. Then check the properties on the newly created data connection to check if you have the Connection Timeout property. In general the properties tab for this connection should look very different than the one for the one under the Sharepoint Connections node.
