Can someone from the development team update us on the current state of these high-voted feature requests? A bunch of these have been sitting around for more than a year in "new" status with high up-votes yet there is no feedback on why they aren't being implemented. Specifically the lack of a color picker support is beyond annoying. +1 for re-structuring your code base so that it can be partially open sourced on github and allow those of us with a vested interest help implement features and submit merge requests to you. |

Hi, Thanks for the feedback - and totally valid. We've not managed the feature tracker as well as we should have recently. We'll go through there shortly. Specifically however I'd like to comment on the colour picker request - we're unlikely to add this simply because there are plenty of extensions that already add this support. Spending the time building something out that's already supported doesn't make much sense to us. While the feature tracker has been not managed as well as it should be, we have been working on the Web Workbench product and improving the quality of it consistently as well as keeping it up to date with new releases of Less/SaSS/CoffeeScript. It still gets frequent updates but we've not looked to bloat the featureset too much. It's clear that much of what Microsoft is doing with Visual Studio is actually extending out some of what Web Workbench is about. That's great for all developers but does mean we have a relatively short horizon for which to make a return on feature investment. If there are truly unique features, that will wow our users, and aren't likely to simply become part of VS vNext, we're certainly open to adopting them. Going full circle, I am sorry that I haven't managed the feature request process with Web Workbench well. One mistake we made with our feature tracker is that we didn't have a 'Planned' status, so things pretty much go from 'new' to being built and that doesn't help visibility either. Thanks for the update. I have yet to come across a color picker for .scss files. Anyone that knows of an addin/product that does please post a link because my searches are showing zero. |
