Hi, I admit I've yet to read the whole license but I'd like to ask a few questions beforehand. 1) Does the license expire after a new major release or after one year? 2) If i get the source code option can I have access to the nightly builds' source too? 3) This one is rather strange, please bear with me. I heard one of the next major versions of C# will have a "compiler as a service" feature. I suppose that with this addition I could somehow have the users of my application create their own custom entities. Since this step would involve compilation on their machines (even if without the usual dev tools like Visual Studio) does that mean that they would need a Lightspeed license too? |

Hi, Thanks for your questions, please let me know if you have any others. 1. After 12 months. You get all new versions for the 12 month period + you can extend that time at a discounted rate. You can continue to use the software after your subscription for updates expires. 2. Yes, we ship the source code in the nightly builds for that edition. 3. Good question - we'll need to discuss this internally :-) Generally speaking however, if your solution doesn't compete with LightSpeed itself (say you built a "LightSpeed in the cloud" type solution where uses to could create and map LightSpeed entities on the fly and could use that rather than purchase LightSpeed - that would be competing) then your users wouldn't need a license themselves. The licensing we offer is usually us trying to be fair for everyone (our users, and us). Interesting question though and we should nail a nice clear answer for people :-) I hope that helps, John-Daniel Trask |
