I have a very large model, I know I can split it, and that is on my todo list, however, in the meanwhile, I often need to be able to print a few selected entities, just for discussing with co-workers etc., is this possible? If I select the objects to be printed, VS still want to print the entire model. Currently I have to write entities down manually, but this seems to be a step backwards. I tried to create a QuickView, but that didn't seem to do anything, so can you tell me what that option is for also. Thanks

Check out "Filtering the View" in the help file. There's a couple ways (name, tag, aggregate), my personal favourite is using tags - works just as you'd expect, eg like settings up tfs build agents using tags. |

Thanks for the prompt reply, I agree the filtering tool is very useful to reducing the clutter from the model, unfortunately, this doesn't help me too much. It is how to print individual or small groups of entities that I need. If I filter the view, then print it, I get a very small group of entinities in a corner of the paper, or somethng very similar, because the print area remains the same as if all the entities were visible.

I don't think there's a direct way to do this, but it's not too much effort to go via e.g. Word or Paint: * Select the entity or group of entities you want to print * Choose Edit > Copy or press Ctrl+C * Paste into Word or Paint You should see only the selected entities (without vast areas of empty space). |
