As it stands it seems the VS Data Sources feature is unusable with Lightspeed. Please can someone recommend how I resolve this! I now have an example VS solution which evidences the problem. It contains a 4-entity model and a single blank Winforms form. With it I can generate a couple of fundamental problems: 1. When creating datasources from the model, inclusion of one called "Category" causes the datasource window to become disabled. If this is omitted I can get two of the others to appear in the Data Sources window. (Project/ProjectCategory.../...Projects, or sometimes just Project/ProjectCategory) 2. Clicking on a chained entity (FK) in the Data Sources window causes VS to crash. I'm using: Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2013 Version 12.0.31101.00 Update 4 (with C#) Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5.50938 LightSpeed Designer for Visual Studio 2013 af67eb34-a276-4aad-9e7a-9a672c30f1f1 |

Hi Tim, Apologies about the delay here. I have looked into this and cannot reproduce the 'disabled' issue, however I believe that there's been some type of change in VS with how data needs to be provided for the Data Sources window. I could also trigger an occasional crash from Visual Studio and suspect it's tied to how the data is being supplied. This may take a bit of time to resolve so I've put it down for the start of our next sprint to resolve. We'll post an update here once a resolution has been rolled into a nightly build of LightSpeed. Thanks also for the repro, it really helped. John-Daniel Trask |
