Hi, We're interested in using the Web Workbench Pro version in VS2010 and are trying to evaluate the free version first.
I've installed the Web Workbench extension in VS2010 Premium but can't see the new Template types. Under the New File menu I don't seem to have the "Visual C#" top level option, only a Web > C# node (see image link below). http://www.freeimagehosting.net/m41m8
Any help appreciated! Thanks. |

Compilation actually occurs on save not on build and occurs automatically provided the .less file is marked for compilation (which is the default). Less compilation is a pro feature however so this isnt something that is available with the free version of Web Workbench. The templates should be showing up - did you install WW via the Visual Studio gallery or by downloading the installer from the website? Also is the Mindscape menu showing up in the menu bar?

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I meant that I know the compile on save is a Pro feature - I was just wondering how compilation of .LESS is done in the free version? I installed WW via this page and ran the downloaded file straight from IE: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/2b96d16a-c986-4501-8f97-8008f9db141a It seemed to install ok and I can see WW listed under the Extension Manager, but I can't see the templates or a WW menu bar. Where should the WW bar be appearing? Lastly, do you have an email of someone I can contact at Mindscape about possible volume licencing? Thanks, Blake |

Hi Blake, The Mindscape menu bar should appear in the top menu - that you are not seeing it infers that the extension is not loading. If you open up the extension manager what extensions are listed? What type of project are you working with? With Less compilation there is actually no compilation in the free version, just syntax highlighting in the editor. Regarding licensing, ping us an email at contact at mindscape.co.nz and we will be able to work through any queries :)

Jeremy, Many thanks for the replies. I think it was a project-level issue in VS as the menu is showing up correctly now. I can now see the new template types by right-clicking in the Solution Explorer and selecting Add, or Add > New Item - but interestingly the new templates don't show up if using the File > New > File option. Just letting you know in case this is a bug. Thanks for the email address regarding licencing. We've bought one Pro licence now to test with and will be in contact about additional licences pending approval of the component from our Arch team. Blake |
