For more than a year I have been experiencing extreme performance issues, to the point what database changes are impossible. Opening the model takes around two to three minutes, but even when visible scrolling is not possible. Right clicking takes more than a minute for the menu to show etc. It all started when I upgrade to VS 2015. I have the latest nightly build of LS 5.5, all the latest updates for my VS environment etc. and nothing makes any difference. If I use the filter on the model to reduce the number of tables displayed dramatically, the speed improves. This week I decided to trash my entire computer, by formatting the disk, and installing everything again from new. When I open the project and the model, exactly the same. So it must be model specific. Either the model is too big, in excess of 200 tables. There is some feature I am using in the model, but I am a pretty normal user, I think, or the model is corrupted in some way. Now whilst I can create a new model from the database, it will not include all the verification rules for empty string and the likes, pleas the custom data types. With the speed of the current model, search all the tables is a non starter, it would take literally weeks. So is there a way I can export the entire model, then import it into a new model library? For information, I created a new model from a smaller database, and it worked at normal speed. So it does appear to be size related or a corruption. |
