The screen shot at http://26tp.com/Files/MindscapeFileExplorer.png shows how I have my Windows docked in Visual Studio 2010.
Sometimes when I click on the Mindscape File Explorer tab the changes window position from docked to floating. I've tried work out when it occurs but no luck. I've had this problem since using File Explorer, 9+ months now. Any thoughts? Anyway I can help you track down the bug. Tim PS. Great product, use it all the time. |

Hi Tim, As a general rule, the docking and floating stuff is managed entirely by Visual Studio. I have found that VS2010 is more eager than VS2008 was to 'tear off' docked windows if the mouse slips a couple of pixels while you're clicking on the tab, but it sounds like you're only seeing this problem with the File Explorer, not as a general thing. We're not sure what we might be doing that could cause it to switch between docked and floating, though -- there's nothing I can see in the code that participates in VS2010's layout decisions in any way. So I'm afraid we probably won't be able to progress this without some more idea of when the switch occurs. Sorry! We hope this doesn't happen so often as to be frustrating... |

Ivan, I'm not surprised with your reply. It's frustrating but not too frustrating. For the record it is the only window I have the problem with. My first thought is it was mouse movement on my part so I very delibarate when clicking the tab. If I do find a pattern to problem I'll let you know.

Ivan, Maybe the following will help you track down the problem. I use a Logitech Trackman Marble http://www.logitech.com/en-au/mice-pointers/trackballs/devices/4786. Before clicking the FileExplorer tab I ensured my hand was no where near the marble. The click worked as expected but as soon as I moved the marble the window started changing its dock position to float. It looks like your code has recognised the left click down but not the up event. But as I've said before this does not always occur.
