And with the last month update the behaviour was changed and now it compiles to:
I understand, that the second result may look more logical, but curious if there is a spec for that or it is up to implementator to decide and both results are valid? |

Not a spec as such, but we directly use the Less javascript source from http://lesscss.org/ so if there has been a change in functionality it will probably be noted somewhere on here: https://github.com/cloudhead/less.js/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md although nothing is jumping out as matching this. The other place to have a hunt would be on the Github issues list for Less.
