Hello, I'm working on a new machine and I've just finished setting up my environment (Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 8). I opened the model and I got this error. How can I fix it? I installed Lightspeed express (I use less than 8 tables). Can you help me please? Here's the error code I get. Failed to generate code for model. Exception message: Unable to cast object of type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LicensingService' to type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.ILicensingService'. Exception details: System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LicensingService' to type 'Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.ILicensingService'. at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.VsxToolContext.get_MaxTypes() at Mindscape.LightSpeed.Generator.Integration.LightSpeedFileGenerator.GenerateCode(String inputFileContents) Thanks. Hi Andrea, Just to confirm that as this is a new machine you have not previously had any version of LightSpeed previously installed?

Yes. Currently I installed the old version 3.11 and things are working properly. It looks like the problem has to do with v.4. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

The error would seem to indicate there is a version mismatch between the GAC'ed designer files and the files in the installation folder. If you uninstall 3.11 are there any Mindscape.LightSpeed.* assemblies left over in the GAC? If there are please try removing these and then reinstalling 4. If there doesn't appear to be anything present, after installing 4.0 can you check that the files that are GAC installed match the equivalent versions in the Designer installation folder?

I've done as you suggested (completely uninstalled the old version and installed the new) and it looks like it's working fine now. Thanks. Andrea |
