Licensing
Licensing can be complicated - long documents written by lawyers can make it difficult to understand what the licensing terms are. We have created this page to help understand, in non-legal terms, how Silverlight Elements is licensed. You should still check the end user license agreement and if you have any questions then please don't hesitate to contact us.
Licensing is per developer
This is similar to the pricing model used by many component vendors. If you have, for example, three developers working on a solution then you would need to acquire a license for each developer.
I have three machines, but I'm just one developer - do I need 3 licenses?
No! We appreciate that many developers code at home, work on a laptop on the road and have a desktop machine at the office. We license to the person, not the machine meaning you only need one license.
Can I get the source code?
Yes! Source code is available and is purchased per developer for their reference. When purchasing simply select the edition that includes source code.
Do I need to purchase a license for my build server?
No! We like to encourage good development practices so you do not need to purchase an additional license for your build server.
What are my support options when I purchase?
Each customer gets 1 free priority support ticket with their purchase (note, not one per developer) which means you can use that priority support ticket to get speedy help (24 hour response times in on business days). Additional support tickets are available for purchase in the online store.
Mindscape also provides an online forum which is actively monitored and has a growing community of other users who can help if you have questions.
Do I need to buy all my licenses up front?
No, you can purchase additional licenses as you add people to your team however we offer bulk purchasing discounts for purchases of 3 licenses or more which may make it advantageous to purchase up front.
Can I download the license?
The latest version of the Silverlight Elements license is included in every version of Silverlight Elements. Simply download the trial edition and you will find the most current license in the Start Menu, Mindscape, Silverlight Elements folder.
